Gmod 11 launcher dll: The file that AVG thinks is a virus but is not

Errors related to launcher.dll can arise for a few different different reasons. For instance, a faulty application, launcher.dll has been deleted or misplaced, corrupted by malicious software present on your PC or a damaged Windows registry.

In the vast majority of cases, the solution is to properly reinstall launcher.dll on your PC, to the Windows system folder. Alternatively, some programs, notably PC games, require that the DLL file is placed in the game/application installation folder.

If you are using Wayland, you might need to also set QT_QPA_PLATFORM=xcb, as the game's launcher uses a version of Qt which only supports Xorg (see Wayland#Qt), another way is to replace the bundled Qt with one provided by Arch Linux [8]. Some versions of the game also seem to require adding SDL_VIDEODRIVER=x11 and will otherwise refuse to start with an error message that reads "An unrecoverable error has occurred, and Civilization VI cannot continue."

The launcher often shows errors like Error loading page. It is possible to bypass the launcher by editing the games startup configuration /.local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Sid Meier's Civilization VI/Civ6 and changing the line ./GameGuide/Civ6 to ./Civ6Sub.

To play the Windows version of Civ VI, first you must force Proton usage. Then, you need to bypass the launcher which is buggy through proton. To skip the launcher, right click on the game, click Properties, and set the following Launch options:

The Steam overlay in FTL does not function as it is not a 3D accelerated game. Because of this the desktop notifications will be visible. If playing in fullscreen, therefore, these notifications in some systems may steal focus and revert you back to windowed mode with no way of going back to fullscreen without relaunching. The binaries for FTL on Steam have no DRM and it is possible to run the game without Steam running, so in some cases that may be optimum - just ensure that you launch FTL via the launcher script in GAME/data/ rather than the FTL binary in the $arch directory.

I have recently encounter this same problem (today actually), and found out that the required files aren't in the SDK for Source 2009 but they are there for The Orange Box (Source 2007). Using GCFScape, you can extract root\launcher\CreateModFiles\orangebox and place it in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\*account name*\sourcesdk\launcher\CreateModFiles (or wherever the your Steam folders are located) you will have to create the "CreateModFiles" folder. Once the Orange Box files are in there, rename "orangebox" to "source2009". --Yottabyte 23:38, 3 February 2011 (UTC)

Do not put d3d8.dll or d3d9.dll from ENBSeries to system folder of Windows!!!Open game folder. You can manually locate it in browser or to open in properties of desktop link to the game. For injector based versions of ENBSeries, you should setup proper name of game executable in configuration file of ENBSeries, this required to inject in to game process. In most cases, non modified games for which mod is developed, working properly without editing.Injector version can be installed to any folder, but for better compability recommended to extract to game folder (some files may not work). For d3d9.dll based versions of ENBSeries, check if game executable (file with .exe extention) is in same folder, some games have binary executable files in custom folders like bin, bin32, system and in main folder only launchers or .bat files. ENBSeries files must to be extracted and placed where game .exe file is or where game .dll libraries, otherwise it will not work. If you can't find .exe file, perhaps extentions are hidden by properties in OS, just ignore this and put files in game folder for experiment.d3dx9_26.dll, d3dx9_40.dll, d3dx9_43.dll - required to run ENBSeries, if game won't start with modification and display error message, download DirectX Runtime from microsoft.com web site, they are not exist in system only for those users, who did not update DirectX several years or did clear installation of OS recently. If you need them, unpack to same folder, where ENBSeries is. Also you can put these files in to system folder of your windows installation.

This is a list of games and software available on Steam that do not require the use of the Steam client itself (after the game or software is downloaded using the client), do not contain any third-party DRM (Digital rights management, e.g. Games for Windows - LIVE, Uplay, Denuvo Anti-Tamper, etc.), and do not utilize the optional Valve CEG (Custom Executable Generation) component, making them effectively launcher-free applications once downloaded. This allows usage of the game directly both offline and without utilization of Steam or third-party software running.

Discovered quite recently, the viewmodel for the Demoman's Grenade Launcher, models/weapons/v_models/v_grenadelauncher_demo.mdl, has an unused "charging" animation in it that is identical to the Stickybomb Launcher's charging animation. This could be a remnant of when the Grenade Launcher model was used for when the Grenade Launcher also acted as a Stickybomb Launcher that let you remotely detonate the pipebombs, as seen in early trailers. It could also be an accidental inclusion of a Stickybomb Launcher animation into the Grenade Launcher. Oddly enough, while the animation is labelled as auto_fire for models/weapons/v_models/v_grenadelauncher_demo.mdl, it is labelled as autofire (no underscore) for models/weapons/v_models/v_stickybomb_launcher_demo.mdl.

The common issues that differentiate a "Verified" game from a merely "Playable" one on the Steam Deck often amount to input annoyances. In 15 of the 36 "Playable" titles identified so far, for instance, a launcher or setup tool "may require the touchscreen or virtual keyboard or have difficult-to-read text," according to Steam. 2ff7e9595c
